If you *were* talking to me about character names (or just asking peeps in general) I'll tell ya mine. ;)
Most of my character names start out in the "random name generator" thingy on the game. Dane came from there (with slight spelling modification) but I made up her last name. A version of Lirik's name came from there too. It reminded me that I've always wanted to use the name "Lirik" but never found a character it suited. After I had Lirik, I made up Lanik to make it sound a bit twin-ish. Thrakill is a modification of the last name of the dude who cleans our windows at work. I thought is sounded cool and evil so I took it. ;) Deke, Leigh, Raff O'Bannon,and Elin are all original, everyone else was name generator. So, no significance. :)

Was that a little reference to Sarte?

In my first big fic, I used a combo name from RPGs that I played. Aerin was elven and Dakar was Romulan. Some of the OC bad guys I had were composites of really bad leaders that I know. Brutus Ergot was derived from the Roman traitor and some bad leaders' names to make Ergot which is a fungus that makes people insane.
